About Me and My Philosophy
Hello, welcome to my site!
I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) and certified personal trainer and have spent the last 18 years training myself to become well versed in a wide range of healthcare and wellness areas. The foundation of my practice is rooted in the lifestyles of our ancestors. Life before the electric light bulb (effects on sleep) chairs and cars (reduced physical movement) and unhealthy processed foods. I promote and teach about how to prepare and eat nutrient dense real food, get regular physical activity and quality restorative sleep. All in ways that work in conjunction with your current life situation and that can even save you money. By looking to our past and embracing the fundamentals of how humans used to live and combining it with modern-day technical
advancements, we can address the vast majority of modern day health issues. By using these lifestyle fundamentals we can successfully treat up to 90% of our modern day illnesses and disease. A healthy blend of technical evolution and ancestral know-how.
By combining modern day science with the clues left behind by our ancestors, I provide a very effective and safe approach to healthcare. The “paleo” format is used as a strong starting point to address the foundation of health and wellness issues. Beyond this, there are some “modern-day” foods and concepts that can be applied and be a healthy part of everyday life. The trick is to start with the basics and build up from there. Finding out what works for you!
From weight loss to autoimmune conditions and athletic performance to optimizing mental function. I have worked with and provided services to a variety of audiences. Working closely with individuals and families, but also providing lectures and seminars to large groups and businesses. A systematic approach is developed to specifically address the goals and concerns of my clients.
Although my primary background is in nutrition, I am also a certified personal trainer and health & wellness coach. Therefore I place a strong emphasis on sleep hygiene and stress management techniques in addition to nutrition and physical activity. This multifaceted approach is the only real way to ensure optimal health. If one of these areas is compromised, it negatively impacts the others.
In these modern times, there is a wealth of information at our fingertips, but it is very important that this information is analyzed intelligently and questioned critically before it is implemented. I have spent several years navigating this information and continue to obtain the most recent and up to date clinical studies and research pertaining to human health and wellness. With this information and acknowledging that there is no “one size fits all” approach to being healthy, a customized approach is developed.
Creating real, lasting change in your life, no matter what your goal is, requires time and patience, but also guidance, support, and discipline. Most of us know that we should change but often find it too difficult to maintain. The key to change is to find and develop the resources that will educate and support you. Books and podcasts are a great start, but with the help of a health coach, lasting change can finally become a reality. If these philosophies resonate with you, please reach out and see how I can help. Become a member or send me an email.
