The Value of Money

Money. We all know what it is and what it’s used for. At its core, though, money is simply something exchanged for our time and expertise. It’s the primary focal point of our society. The world seems to revolve around it, doesn’t it?

Yes, we all need money to meet our basic needs — food, shelter, and security. But how much do we truly need? And at what cost?

Let me ask you this: What’s more important, wealth or health?

Most people would say health. After all, what good is wealth without it, right? But here’s the catch: whether it’s wealth or health, both require one thing—our time.

Time: The Ultimate Resource

Time is the one resource we can’t get more of. Every day, we lose a little more of it. If health is more important than wealth (beyond meeting our basic needs), why do so many of us spend the majority of our time earning money—only to end up spending that money later trying to restore our health?

Think about it: Wouldn’t it make more sense to invest time into maintaining or improving our health now, so that we can use our hard-earned money on things that truly bring us joy and fulfillment?

Who enjoys spending money on medical bills, medications, or rising health insurance premiums? Nobody. Yet, many of us neglect to allocate the time necessary to safeguard our health. Instead, we focus on acquiring money, only to eventually use it to recover some level of health.

Time Is the Ultimate Currency

How we spend our time determines what we get in return. When we invest time in ourselves, we gain health, happiness, and a better quality of life. When we give our time to others in exchange for money, we’re often forced to spend that money on avoidable health-related expenses.

Investing in Your Health Pays Dividends

Prioritizing your health doesn’t just save you money in the long run—it gives you so much more:

  • Lower stress
  • Increased energy
  • A more capable body and mind
  • A longer, more fulfilling life

And here’s the kicker: investing time in your health doesn’t just improve your quality of life. Studies show it can also make you more focused, proactive, and productive—which often leads to making more money!

It Doesn’t Take Much to Start

Making a positive change doesn’t require a massive overhaul of your life. Start small. Build momentum. Once you take that first step, it gets easier to keep going.
